The panel is what makes this one frustrating to write up. It is sharp, fast, and the color is excellent, and it looks fine in my white-lit room
- the glare complaints you find online did not match what I see. On image quality alone, I would happily recommend it.
Why the 5, then
Two problems sit between that panel and a recommendation, both about everything except the screen.
The first is a humming power supply. Mine does it, and a quick search turns up plenty of others, so I do not think I drew a bad unit. The second is what happens when you want it fixed: MSI’s RMA is slow, with no advance-replacement option, so you box up an expensive monitor and go without one until they are done.
A great display does not cancel out a hardware defect and a support experience like that. If MSI sorts out the buzz and the turnaround, I will revisit this. Until then, the panel is the only thing holding the score up.
What I like
- Excellent panel - sharp, fast, great color
- Fine in a bright, white-lit room, despite complaints I had read
What annoys me
- The power supply hums, and it is a common complaint, not a one-off
- MSI's RMA is slow, with no advance-replacement option
Update log
A year in. The panel is still excellent, but the humming power supply and the slow RMA keep this at a cannot-recommend.

Frequently asked questions
Does the MSI MPG 321URX have a humming power supply?
Mine does, and I am not alone - it is a common complaint online, so I do not think it is a bad unit.
How is MSI's RMA and support?
Slow, in my experience, with no advance replacement - you go without the monitor while it is handled. It is a big part of the score.
Is the panel actually good?
Excellent. Sharp, fast, great color, and fine in a bright room. The score is about everything around the screen, not the screen.
