I had real hope for Fractal’s first headset. The company makes some of the cleanest PC cases around, so the Scape had my attention at $200. A few days later I boxed it back up and returned it.
What it gets right
The base is genuinely nice, solid and well made, and the mic is perfectly passable for calls and games. If the rest had lived up to those two things, this would have been an easy keeper.
Why it went back
The sound is the problem. It feels cheap for the money, thin where I wanted some body to it. The ear cushions are scratchy against the skin, and the clamping force is too tight to wear through a long session in comfort. None of it is broken. It just does not add up to $200, so I used the return window rather than talk myself into keeping it.
