The Prime Day gamble
I grabbed the Boom 2 on a Prime Day deal for $84, mostly as a knockabout speaker I would not have to baby. It has turned out to be a lot more fun than the price suggested.
How does it sound and hold up?
Punchy. For something this small it puts out big, confident sound, and the lights are a real touch rather than a gimmick. It set up in seconds, it is waterproof, and the battery lasts a long time between charges. Those are the boxes you actually want a portable speaker to tick.
The catch
It could sound better. There is a ceiling here, and a pickier ear will hear it. But at this price you get what you pay for and then some: a fun, durable, take-anywhere speaker.
What I like
- Big, punchy sound for the size
- Waterproof and built to knock around
- Long battery life between charges
- Fun lights and dead-simple setup
What annoys me
- It could sound better - good for the money, not audiophile
