This is the one I leave running in a large open room, and most days I forget it is there. On the low settings it is quiet enough to ignore; turn it up and there is plenty of power in reserve. The room feels different with it on, which is not something I would say about every purifier I have run.
What keeps it in rotation is the running cost. Filters are cheap and easy to find, so swapping one is never a debate, and auto mode sets fan speed off its own air-quality sensor without me fiddling.
The price, and only the price
Full retail. It is a lot of money at list, so I waited for a sale and would tell you to do the same. Past the price, it has not given me a reason to complain.
What I like
- Quiet enough to ignore on the low settings
- Real airflow, so a large room actually clears
- Replacement filters are cheap and easy to find
What annoys me
- Expensive at full retail (worth waiting for a sale)
Frequently asked questions
Is the Coway Airmega 450 quiet?
On its lowest speeds, yes - I forget it is running. The top speed is loud, but auto mode rarely calls for it.
Are the replacement filters expensive?
No, and that is one of its strengths. Prices move, so check the current cost before you buy.
Is it worth buying at full price?
I would wait for a sale. It is a strong purifier, but at list it is a lot to pay.
