Smart Home: the ones I still recommend
Smart-home gear is where good hardware gets ruined by bad software and abandoned apps. I review the sensors, plugs, hubs, and gadgets I actually keep powered on, and I come back when a firmware update changes the deal.
The smart-home category has a unique failure mode: the product you bought can get worse over time when the company changes the app, moves features behind a subscription, or simply stops shipping updates. So these reviews are never finished. I keep the devices running and revisit the verdict whenever the software shifts the ground under them.
